ROLES: 1 x Applications Sales Specialist (molecular biology - genomics and proteomics)
1 x Territory Manager position
1 x Liquid handling Product Specialist, maternity cover (9 months)
TERRITORY: Cambridge and outskirts. Candidate must be on patch
PRODUCTS: Company offers laboratory equipment, software, services, consumables and reagents to enable integrated laboratory workflow solutions. Also a complete portfolio of laboratory equipment, chemicals, supplies and services used in scientific research, safety, healthcare and science education.
CLIENTS: Specified academic, government and / or industrial accounts
Summary of Duties & Responsibilities: (not in order of priority)
1. To plan and organize activities to ensure effective sales contact throughout the target customer types in the area defined by the Sales Manager and to make effective use of their time during each interview.
2. To visit end-users/specifiers and when appropriate other customer personnel including purchasing departments and to make sales presentations, product demonstrations and negotiate terms and conditions of sale within agreed guidelines.
3. To follow up quotations, enquiries and complaints promptly and communicate with appropriate personnel.
4. To build strong relationships with key end user groups, build ongoing technical dialogue and to work closely with Thermo Fisher Marketing in order to deliver new sales opportunities at a product/application level for the Thermo Fisher sales force.
5. To co-operate with, support and provide product training for colleagues as required and to attend sales meetings, conferences, exhibitions, training and refresher courses as requested.
6. To maintain records of customers, contacts and call details, update contact manager within the guideline 48 hour time period following the call and to produce reports as required by Sales Manager.
7. To operate within the company published guidelines on expenses, car policy & mobile phone use and to maintain the prestige of the company by setting high personal standards of behaviour and integrity.
8. To carry out any other reasonable duties as required. |
| Person Profile |
1)
Applications Sales Specialist:
Key skills/qualification required :
· Candidates must hold a B.Sc in - Genetics, Molecular Biology or Biochemistry.
· Strongly Preferred - Ph.d in one of the above subjects combined
· Working knowledge of Genomics or Proteomics and/or Cell Biology
· Good understanding of following applications PCR, QPCR, Sequencing, electrophoresis, protein purification, protein characterisation.
· Good understanding of Life Sciences Market.
· Strongly preferred - minimum 12 months commercial experience on the relevant territory.
Will consider someone without any sales experience provided they clearly demonstrate a flare for commercial role & have a good understanding of a technical sales role.
Please note that the primary focus of this role is selling technical products followed by supporting other activities.

Territory Manager
General business acumen
Broad understanding of Fisher Scientific, and the product range.
Excellent communication and selling, negotiation skills.
Good level of computer skills and knowledge of a variety of software packages.
3)
Product Specialist - Liquid Handling
Essential:
" Capable of national coverage involving considerable UK travel.
" Full, clean driving licence.
" Life Science Qualification, Degree or equivalent desirable
" Experience of laboratory working practices desirable
" Knowledge of laboratory products, particularly liquid handling equipment
" Excellent communication and presentation skills
" 2 years sales or product specialist experience preferable gained in a similar market environment or with a competitor.
