Job Description Title : Senior Consultant

Location : Cambridge

Reports To : Operations Director

Role : We are looking for an experienced professional to join our Communications practice as a Senior Consultant, providing high level editorial/analytical/technical resource within the practice and to act as deputy to the practice head.


Pope Woodhead and Associates provide consultancy services to the pharmaceutical
sector. Services are delivered through four practices: Communications, Market Strategy,
Process Implementation and Risk Management.

Key Duties :
* Delivery of work programmes:
- work across a large number of therapeutic areas concurrently, showing flexibility and an
aptitude to quickly assimilate relevant information and demonstrate expertise
- scope, plan and lead major, multi-component work programmes
- review, comprehend, evaluate and synthesise numerical, scientific, regulatory and
commercial data and question any discrepancies in the validity, context or reliability of the
data
- produce written materials to budgeted length/time restrictions for specified projects or
publications in a variety of formats

* Client account development:
- explain/present Pope Woodhead capabilities to potential and existing clients
- provide specialist input to business solutions for clients on high-profile projects with
substantial commercial implications
- prepare proposals and other aspects of specialist/scientific support to sales and
marketing.
- liaise with individual clients regarding specialist/technical/scientific matters pertaining to
particular projects as the need arises.
- liaise with Finance Director re programme costings and budgets, and client invoicing

* Practice development:
- work with the Practice Head to provide thought leadership and innovative practice
offerings
- represent Practice on relevant industry bodies or present at conferences.
- attend conferences/symposia to act as a liaison between Pope Woodhead and the
meeting participants

* Team management and development
- liaise with other members of the project team to ensure that the project specifications
are met and that work is produced to the required standard, within budget and on time.
- liaise with Practice Head and Operations Director re personal and team workloads,
programme status, resource requirements/utilisation, costings and budgets including
collaboration with other practices
- work with the Practice Head to identify and support training and development needs of
team members
Person Profile Candidates:

* Degree level education
* Mminimum of six years in a consultancy, agency, health outcomes research, the pharmaceutical industry, clinical trials, drug information and/or other healthcare-related fields

* Experience of providing support to commercial sector clients, preferably with a focus on the pharmaceutical industry.
* Understanding and interpretation of health outcomes/clinical trials/evidence-based
healthcare/ complex data
* Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail with proven writer/editorial ability in
healthcare
* Demonstrable record of project delivery, business development and new service offering
development.
* Sound financial/commercial acumen gained through providing support to commercial
sector clients, preferably with a focus on the pharmaceutical industry.
* In depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries with a good working
knowledge of drug regulatory/approval processes, including those of the FDA and NICE

* Analytical & authorship/editorial skills: ability to analyse and interpret data, research and
write structured reports, write to different styles, audiences and vehicles, edit, proof-read
and maintain the quality of own work to a high level of accuracy (and client satisfaction).
* Edit others work.
* Consulting skills: ability to reduce complex information into simple, actionable frameworks; ability to innovate and develop new solutions demonstrating creativity in approach and the ability to think laterally.
* Organisational skills: ability to prioritise own and team workloads; work to deadlines and
under pressure.
* Communication and interpersonal skills: ability to work in multiple teams or alone;
communicate with people at all levels, negotiate and lead; present and deliver with clarity
and confidence; present and communicate effectively orally and in writing
* Motivational skills: ability to motivate, manage and develop people/teams, setting
goals/focusing on achievements; ability to work as part of a team and independently
* Computer literate (familiar with appropriate Microsoft software packages, databases, etc)

Additional information:
Role development will include:
- Individual responsibility for identifying training and development needs
- Development of advanced consulting or account management skills
- To act as deputy to Practice Head in terms of: managing clients, managing accounts and
projects to budget, writing proposals, contributing to business development activities and
developing new offerings
- Development of new service offerings, including use of Associates/sourcing new associates.
- Mentoring of account managers and writer analysts within the communications practice
