LEO Pharma is committed to the research, development and marketing of safe and effective prescription medicines, thereby supporting the LEO Foundation's contributions to medical science, chemistry and pharmacy.

Part of the LEO group of companies, the parent company of which is LEO Pharma is located in Denmark and is owned by the LEO Foundation. LEO Pharma is primarily a sales and marketing company although we also have a large medical department which carries out clinical studies on behalf of the group.

LEO specialises in the research and development of prescription medicines. In the UK, LEO Pharma is the leading dermatological company in the prescription medicine market. LEO is one of the largest primary producers of heparin in the world, isolating it solely from porcine mucosa.

Dermatology

The main strategic area of LEO is dermatology and, in the UK, we are the leading dermatological company in the prescription medicine market. Our position in this area has been driven by our research on vitamin D analogues in which we are a world leader.

Critical care

Other strategic therapeutic areas include renal bone disease, also resulting from vitamin D research, and anticoagulation, in particular heparin, both unfractionated and low molecular weight products.
