Arnolds' pharmaceutical division was renamed Dechra Veterinary Products in October 2005 in order to:

  • Build a stronger presence for the Dechra brand in the veterinary market
  • Ensure a cohesive and integrated global perspective for the Dechra brand in all its key companion animal territories. The group's operation has been trading under the Dechra name from the outset
  • Differentiate the pharmaceutical business to strengthen its market position and allow it to take advantage of new opportunities

With a strong commitment to product development and to product support, the company's small animal portfolio includes therapies for key endocrine disorders, including Vetoryl® for the treatment of canine hyperadrenocorticism (Cushing's syndrome) and Felimazole® for the treatment of feline hyperthyroidism.

Dechra is also an important provider of equine medicine.  Equipalazone® has been the market-leading product for the anti-inflammatory and analgesic relief of musculoskeletal disorders for over 30 years.

VetXX sought by Dechra
British firm Dechra Pharmaceuticals has said it is to buy VetXX for ?61.7 million.It stated that the acquisition would allow it access to ten EU countries, including Britain and Ireland.
