Company Profile Our founder, Albert Boehringer, was not only a successful businessman but also a revolutionary when it came to pioneering employee welfare. In 1902 he introduced an employee insurance scheme (an early pension saving scheme) and, a few years later, a foundation to help old and infirmed workers. In 1910 he made the radical gesture (for the time) of granting an annual fortnight’s holiday to all workers, the only proviso being that, as proof it had been taken, it was compulsory to send him a postcard from wherever the holiday was spent!
This belief that our employees are our biggest asset continues today. We actively look to develop senior management and leadership from within, running ongoing programmes to bring out the very best in our employees.
This commitment to placing the workforce at the core of our business is widely-appreciated. For seven years our employees have voted Boehringer Ingelheim into the ‘Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For’ survey.
All employees receive two days paid leave to undertake voluntary work in the community and the company supports many local charities.
